Ticket terms & conditions

1. You can travel by rail after 0900 Mondays to Fridays, or at any time on the following routes:-

  • Heart of Wales Line trains only between Swansea, Llandrindod and Shrewsbury
  • services between Fishguard Harbour, Milford Haven, Pembroke Dock and Carmarthen
  • services between Aberystwyth, Machynlleth and Pwllheli
  • services between Llandudno and Blaenau Ffestiniog along the Conwy Valley Line

2. You can travel by rail at any time on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays

3. There are no time of day restrictions for travel by bus

4. A 4 in 8 day Freedom Wales Flexi Pass allows four days travel within a period of eight consecutive days. An 8 in 15 day Flexi Pass allows eight days rail travel within a period of 15 consecutive days. The 3 in 7 day Freedom of South Wales Flexi Rover allows three days rail travel within a period of seven consecutive days and bus travel for the full seven days. The 3 in 7 day North & Mid Wales Flexi Rover allows three days rail and bus travel within a period of seven consecutive days.

5. All other discounts - to tourist attractions, YHA Youth Hostels - are only available during the validity of the Flexi ticket.

6. Please refer to the map inside this leaflet for details of mainline rail routes on which you can use your Flexi ticket

7. Services of the following bus operators are included in the price of Flexi Pass and Rover tickets:

North & Mid Wales Flexi Rover and Freedom of Wales Flexi Pass
Arriva Cymru, Berwyn Coaches, Bryn Melyn, Caelloi, Clynog & Trefor, Express Motors, GHA Coaches, KMP (Llanberis), M&H Travel, Tanat Valley Coaches, Townlynx, Silver Star and all local authority supported bus services in Gwynedd and the Isle of Anglesey. Also Arriva Midland North services between Shrewsbury, Newtown & Llanidloes, Welshpool & Oswestry and Wrexham & Oswestry.

South Wales Flexi Rover and Freedom of Wales Flexi Pass
Bebb Travel, Cardiff Bus, Crossgates Coaches, First, Glyn Williams Travel, Islwyn Borough Transport, Newport Transport, Richards Bros., Roy Brown’s Coaches, Shamrock Coaches, Silcox Coaches, Stagecoach in South Wales, Summerdale Coaches, Sixty- Sixty coaches, Morris Travel of Carmarthen. Also Arriva Cymru services between Aberystwyth & Aberaeron, Tregaron and Pontrhydfendigaid and Traws Cambria service 701; Herefordshire Council service 416 Hereford - Monmouth (operated by Dukes Travel) and Sunday service 40 Hereford - Hay on Wye - Brecon (operated by Yeomans Canyon Travel); and Sargeant Brothers Coaches service 461 and 462 between Llandrindod Wells and Hereford. ’Beacons Bus’ special Summer Sunday services run by the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority

8. Travel must be completed by midnight on each day of travel

9. If you are planning to travel by train at busy times such as holidays and Friday evenings we recommend that you make a seat reservation. If you intend to travel with a bike please be advised that cycles will not be conveyed on some busy trains and many trains require cycle reservations in advance. Bikes cannot usually be conveyed by bus. Please enquire at booking offices or from the conductor for details.

10. Refunds will not be made unless the Flexi Pass is returned to the issuing office before the first permitted date of travel.
