Description
One of Wales most popular narrow gauge railways, providing an ideal perspective of the beautiful Brecon Beacons. Running on the track bed of the erstwhile Brecon to Merthyr railway the line will hopefully be extended to Torpantau in time for Summer 2003.
Travel by Bus
Stagecoach local bus services 35, 40 and 41 provide regular weekday services from Merthyr bus station and you should alight at Pant Cemetery from which the railway station is a few minutes walk. On Sunday a 90 minute frequency service, number 31, is provided by Shamrock buses.
Travel By Train
The nearest railway station is Merthyr Tydfil, which is served by trains from Cardiff Central and Queen Street Stations. Weekday services from / to Cardiff Central run at hourly frequencies for most of the day. The Mountain Railway is a six km bus journey from Merthyr Tydfil.
