Description

One of the most impressive of South Wales many castles and the biggest in Wales, equalled in England only by Dover and Windsor. The ingenuity of its fortifications, particularly its water defences is scarcely rivalled anywhere in Europe.

Travel by Bus

The nearest bus stop is adjacent to the castle and served by IBT service 26 running between Cardiff and Tredegar. Services run hourly on weekdays. On Sundays the service is run by Glyn Williams Travel and operates to a lower frequency.

Travel By Train

The nearest railway station is Caerphilly, which is served by trains on the Cardiff to Bargoed and Rhymney line. Services run at 30-minute frequencies on weekdays. The Castle is a short walk from the railway and bus station.
